India Port Halts Container Traffic

After crane operators suspended operations Tuesday night, container handling came to a halt at India’s Port of Haldia, a sister facility of the Port of Kolkata.

The sudden action by unionized dockworkers followed a contract dispute with the port authority, according to reports from Haldia.Vessel operators are considering ommitting the Haldia port until peace has been restored.
